SPOTLIGHT: Creative freelancers
How are projects that put artists and creative freelancers at their heart exploring different models of recruitment, governance, leadership and working practices?
Culture Collective has support for artists and freelancers at its heart. For this key event in our winter 2021 event series, we were joined by people and projects who are exploring new ways of creating opportunities for artists. Speakers – from the Culture Collective and beyond – discussed their experiences, questions, learning and hopes for the journey ahead.
The event was hosted by Morvern Cunningham, freelance creative (standing in for Heather Parry – writer, reader, and author of The Illustrated Freelancer’s Guide)
Speakers included:
- Rebecca Livesey-Wright and Katharine Mcfarlane – RIG Arts’ EVOLVE project
- Jerry Taylor – artist with Ayr Gaiety Partnership
- Scott MacDonald – creative practitioner with North Lanarkshire Culture Collective
- Leyla Josephine – performance poet, theatre maker, screenwriter, facilitator and project leader.
About the winter events series
Culture Collective’s winter 2021 events were designed as a series of starting points to mark the outset of our journey. Together we set out to an unknown destination, collectively learning from one another along the way.
