The Creative Islands Network provides opportunities for creative practitioners in Lewis, Harris, Orkney, Shetland and North Uist to devise and deliver activities and workshops with people in their local communities, with a focus on working with older people and those living with dementia; people experiencing poor mental health; young people who may have missed out on educational and social experiences as a result of Covid-19; and people who may be particularly isolated due to living alone or living in our outmost and rural communities and islands. The projects aim to improve quality of life, mental and physical health for participants and communities through providing greater access to, and active engagement with, creative and social experiences. This programme also aims to connect creative practitioners across islands to explore ways we can work together, share experiences and embed the arts within our island communities. It will serve as a national platform to promote the creative practitioners working, and the creative activity happening, in the Islands.
